The stuff nobody wants to deal with
Heavy, awkward, up a flight of stairs, or just too much of it to fit in a car. That is the whole job description. A short and very incomplete list:

What we will not take: paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, propane tanks, car batteries or asbestos. Those belong in your county’s household hazardous waste program — say so when you call and we will tell you where the nearest one is.

You get a price back for what is in the photo. If the job is big or spread through a house, we will come and look before quoting. Looking is free.

We tell you the soonest we can be there and you say yes or pick another day. Evenings and weekends are on the table, especially for commercial work.

You do not lift anything. We carry it out, sweep the space, and drive it to whichever facility that jurisdiction requires — which is rarely the nearest one.
What we get called for
Residential junk removal
Garages, basements, attics, sheds, spare rooms and yards. The single most common call is one heavy thing on an awkward floor.
Commercial & office cleanouts
Office furniture, cubicles, retail fixtures and back-of-house. Scheduled after hours so nobody has to work around a truck.
Construction & renovation debris
Drywall, lumber, old cabinets, flooring and fixtures cleared off site so the next trade can actually get in.
Furniture & appliance removal
One couch, one fridge, one treadmill. Including out of basements, up from below grade and down from third-floor walk-ups.
Estate & storage cleanouts
A whole property or a unit you have stopped paying for. Slower, more careful, and everything worth keeping gets set aside first.
Not on this list?
Ask anyway. If it is not hazardous and it fits through the door, it is probably a normal job. If we cannot take it we will tell you who can.
The room back
Nobody wants junk removal. What people want is the basement usable again, the garage holding a car, the rental ready to show, or the house emptied before a settlement date that will not move.
So the job is not finished when the truck is full. It is finished when the space is swept and you can walk into it. That is the part worth paying somebody for — the driving and the tipping fees are just what it takes to get there.
Where we work
The DMV looks like one market and is legally three of them. Where your junk is allowed to end up, who is allowed to carry it and what it costs to tip it all change at the district and state lines. Here is what that means on your job:
Washington DC
Rowhouses, alleys, basements and walk-ups — and a city transfer station that is closed to commercial loads, so our truck goes somewhere else entirely.
Maryland
Prince George’s, Montgomery, Charles and Anne Arundel. Every county runs its own facility with its own bans — Montgomery takes no roofing at all.
Northern Virginia
Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax. Fairfax requires every hauler working in the county to tip at county facilities, at a published per-ton rate.
A small outfit, not a franchise
DMV Capital Junk Removal is a small, personally run business. No call center, no dispatcher, no script — when you call or text, you are talking to Clinton, the owner, who is also the person carrying your couch down the stairs.
That is most of the difference. The person quoting the job is the person doing it, so the number reflects what the job actually is. Nobody has to renegotiate on the day because a salesperson under-measured a basement they never saw.
It also means one person from the first text to the swept floor. If something needs saying, you are saying it to the person who can do something about it.

How do I get a price?
Call or text (978) 328-4523. A photo of the pile is the fastest way to get a number — send one and you can usually have a price back without anyone visiting. If it is easier, or the job is spread across a whole house, we will come and look first.
Do I have to be there when you come?
Not always. For a garage, a curbside pile or anything we can reach without going through the house, plenty of people just point us at it and go to work. For an inside job you or someone you trust needs to let us in and confirm what is going.
Do you work in all three — DC, Maryland and Virginia?
Yes. We are based in Suitland, Maryland, and we cross the line in both directions every week. The three jurisdictions genuinely differ in how junk has to be disposed of, which is why there is a separate page here for each one.
Can you take things out of a basement or a third-floor walk-up?
Yes. Carrying is the job. Stairs, tight turns, narrow rowhouse hallways and no elevator are normal — mention them when you call so the right amount of help turns up.
What will you not take?
Anything hazardous: paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, propane tanks, car batteries and asbestos. Those go to household hazardous waste programs your county runs, not into a junk truck. Tell us if any of it is in the pile and we will point you at the right drop-off.
